Hey, itโ€™s me, Kym Ormond

Permaculturist and community educator

My name is Kym Ormond and, if you ask me, I call myself a permaculturist โ€” but if youโ€™re not sure what that is, I also call myself a โ€˜community educatorโ€™.

I run food preserving workshops, help people grow food, own a plant nursery, run nature craft sessions with kids and play music too.

Iโ€™m basically that guy who has spent his whole life doing sidequests and now Iโ€™ve turned it all into my career.

I have a strong DIY Folkpunk grassroots ethos and believe in helping individuals and local communities grow food, learn how to cook the food theyโ€™ve grown and have fun whilst weโ€™re doing it. Itโ€™s my jam.

Nomad Nursery

Edible plant nursery in Carey Gully, South Australia

Nomad Nursery is a plant-tastic collaboration between Jackson Bennett and me. Together we grow veggie seedlings, edible perennials, fruit trees and more. We use organic inputs and donโ€™t spray our plants with herbicides, pesticides or other nasties.

Permaculture in South Australia

Permaculture is a sustainable design approach that follows natureโ€™s lead to create self-sufficient, regenerative systems for farming, gardening and even community living.

Itโ€™s all about going with the flow of nature, not against it, with practices such as organic farming, water-saving and boosting biodiversity to build resilient, low-impact setups that are designed for purpose.

Iโ€™ve been a Permaculture South Australia committee member since 2022. Itโ€™s the best, we do really cool things that are fun and often free, please come support us.
